Andrew Ferguson is one of Australia’s most accomplished and respected niche storytellers and filmmakers. He has produced edgy, gold award-winning work for international corporations, ad-agencies, indigenous groups, museums and children. His work in progress includes two feature films and two high-end documentaries, although in the mainstream, you might know him best for his outstanding work on the ABC series Grand Designs. Andrew’s special focus is on developing filmmaking talent in regional Victoria. Andy is The Master, with an astonishing ability, in whatever medium, to spin a fascinating, true, and often, socially-challenging yarn.
Note from Graham: ‘I am a mariner. I have survived close to the worst the sea has to offer. I have seen all the sea films. Master and Commander, Hornblower, Life of Pi, the Robert Redford thing and all the rest and always have been sadly disappointed. What you see is not a shred of the truth of it. Then I saw Andy’s film about life on the historic vessel Polly Woodside, depicting life at sea as it was, done on a shoestring budget, and it’s exactly like it is. I was left shaken. What a privilege it has been to have him on our side.
